Toddler Program (1 – 2 Years)

As toddlers develop friendships, self-esteem, and curiosity, our Creative Curriculum® Toddler program will help them explore their world in a safe and nurturing environment. Our unique curriculum is based on the philosophy that children learn best through experiences. So each day is filled with fun activities that excite and develop toddlers, giving them the comfort and confidence to speak those first few important words, as well as make their first friends.

Early Preschool Program (2 – 3 Years)

At this age, children are making new discoveries daily. And as two-year olds begin to exert their independence, our Creative Curriculum® Early Preschool program is prepared to open their eyes to a world of learning, sharing, and exploring. Our hands on approach in the classroom engages young minds with a blend of music, art, and movement, as well as the early education fundamentals they’ll need as they continue on to preschool.

Advanced Preschool Program (3 – 4 Years)

As preschoolers gain more self-esteem, they may feel ready to take on the world. Our Creative Curriculum® Preschool program enhances that confidence by providing activities to help children become problem solvers and lifelong learners. Through independent exploration, structured activities, and hands-on learning, children will work on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts as well as a focus on developing gross motor skills and movement.

(VPK) Voluntary Pre- kindergartners Program (4 – 5 Years)

Pre-kindergarteners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime – school. Children who participate in high-quality early childhood education programs develop better language skills, score higher in school-readiness tests and have better social skills and fewer behavioral problems once they enter school. Our Creative Curriculum® offers the tools to better prepare children for Kindergarten, especially in the areas of pre-reading, pre-math and social skills. With small group instruction, independent play in an organized atmosphere, and whole-group activities, children will have all the right skills to hop, skip, and jump right into kindergarten.

activities

Children at Everglades Academy have a daily balance of indoor and outdoor play. All children have at least 1 hour of outside play in the (morning and afternoon).

Our Indoor activities include:

Circle time, singing, storytelling, finger plays, games, math, science and nature activities, creative art experiences, music and movement, puzzles and activities to build fine motor skills integrated into their daily schedule. Students learn the letters of the alphabet, count numbers, write their name, colors and shapes. Involvement in these developmentally appropriate activities helps children build independence, self-esteem, and practice self-help skills. Playing with others builds social skills in working together, as well as develop conflict resolution skills, while promoting independent learning. Children learn the essentials needed for being successful students.

Outdoor activities include:

Age appropriate playground equipment and toys. We have a beautiful faux turf which provides a clean, soft and safe play surface and helps minimize allergies. In the warmer months we incorporate water play in the curriculum. Children also plant seeds and release live butterflies in the spring as part of our very hands on curriculum, play soccer and work on developing large motor skills. We also have portable sensory bins that can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Field Trips (In House / Outbound)

Our VPK classes go on field trips which are chaperoned by teachers and parents. They visit local businesses that may include: Fire Departments, Markets, Gardens, Libraries, Police Stations, Discovery Centers and the Nature Centers near us. We have a number of In-House field trips where students have the opportunity to learn about diverse animal life which are brought in by local organizations, their environments, nature and safety awareness. We have speakers, legislative representatives and community service staff and professionals come and visit the school to offer their knowledge and insight on their varied professions. Parents are encouraged to come in and share their time and talents in the classroom whenever possible. We have an open door policy.
